Above are images of the Xerographic Sheet Projector. The project was a commission from Cineworks in Vancouver and presented as part of the the Bent Light Western Canadian Tour Sept 6th to Sept 21st 2014. The tour was organized by Cineworks and funded through the Canada Council for the Arts.
Mechanical Synopsis
The projector works in conjunction with a photocopier modified to function as a camera. The photocopier-camera shoots still images directly onto 8-1/2 x 11″ sheets of paper which are then loaded as a stack into the back of the Xerographic Sheet Projector. Turning the large drive wheel the projector feeds the 8-1/2 x 11″ sheets at a rate of 2 to 3 sheets per second and converts them into a single channel film as they pass though the projector. Mirrors are used to cancel out the rotational movement of the individual sheets and project them as frames upon a nearby screen.
